Classes

3-4 Year Olds

Our 3-4 year old class meets on T/Th from 9:00am-11:30am. Our 3/4's program is for young children and focuses on creating an environment where they are able to learn social-emotional skills, self-regulation as well as the beginning of academics. This class allowed for growth in a social setting, as well as individual growth and a beginning of a core knowledge base. This class will focus about 75% of their time on learning how to be in a class setting, with 25% focus on academic learning. This is achieved by shorter circle times, more chances for one on one interaction with the teachers in play based learning, more instruction and assistance in art projects as well as social-emotional checks and balances with most being teacher driven.

A typical day in this includes:

  • Weekly Bible Lessons
  • Weekly Bible Verse
  • Songs
  • Letters
  • Social Skills
  • Fine Motor Skills Activities
  • Large Motor Skills Activities
  • Circle Time

4-5 Year Olds

Our 4-5 year old class meets on M/W/F  from 9:00am -12:00pm. Our 4/5's class is the stepping stone that bridges the gap between our younger class and Jr K or kindergarten for those who are ready after the Parent Teacher conferences in April based upon their academic assessments. This class will focus heavily on reinforcing the skills learned in 3/4's, expanding the children's ability to engage in play with one another verses solo or teacher driven, and will create an expanded knowledge base. This class includes longer circle times, more advanced worksheets, incorporates child driven social interaction with proper skills, fosters independent and cooperative play, as well as preparation for academic success. This class is a balance of academic and social interaction developing well rounded students.

  • A typical day in the 4-5 class incorporates items listed in our 3-4 class while adding these additional concepts:
  • Phonics
  • Increased Alphabet Knowledge
  • Math-Spatial, Sorting, Opposites, and Sequencing
  • Visual Perception

Jr K Class

Our Jr K class meets Mon-Thurs from 9:15am - 12:15pm.  Junior Kindergarten (Jr K)  is a stepping stone after our 4/5's class that prepares children for kindergarten. It focuses on building up their developing essential skills like self-regulation, attention, and communication, along with academic skills such as literacy and math. It involves a more structured curriculum than our preschool classes, offering a bridge between preschool and kindergarten.

Key aspects of Junior Kindergarten:
Focus: Prepares children for the demands of kindergarten by developing critical learning skills, academic readiness, and social-emotional development. This class does not have parent helpers so the children are learning how to participate in a class structured like their upcoming kindergarten class.

Curriculum: Includes language and literacy activities, math concepts, and exploration of nature and science. This expounds upon the knowledge that they learned in 3/'4s and 4/5's and creates a larger knowledge base before they enter the school system.

Structure: This class involves a more structured day than our younger preschool programs, with a focus on specific skills and learning objectives. More time is spent working on lessons with longer and more frequent circle times, independent work, as well as advanced writing and recognition of words, word families, phonics, math and more.
Benefits: Jr K helps children develop the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
